The archaeological campaigns have documented the existence of a complex of <strong>two rooms<\/strong>, built in two distinct phases; this complex is partly below the <strong>Roman church<\/strong>, partly outside.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19596\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19596\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19596\" src=\"http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-12.jpg 800w, http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-12-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-12-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-12-705x470.jpg 705w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-19596\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The 12th-century roman church<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <strong>north room<\/strong>, located below the church, measures 6.5&#215;5.5 m; this space was the baptistery of the early Christian era (5th century A.D.). The <strong>south room<\/strong>, visible outside the sacred building, has two construction phases. After the early Christian one, with a single hall, it was radically rebuilt, and <strong>three apses<\/strong> were added, occupying the eastern half. This environment then went through a phase of reuse, as evidenced by the presence of a wall that cuts it from north to south, &#8220;closing&#8221; the apses. In fact, the site is <strong>intensively exploited as a cemetery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19600\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/1-13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19600\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19600\" src=\"http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/1-13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/1-13.jpg 550w, http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/1-13-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-19600\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The south hall, with the three apses on the east side<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As far as the chronology of the buildings is concerned, after a first phase of the <strong>5th century<\/strong>, the south hall knows a second one, of <strong>Carolingian age<\/strong> (8th-9th century). During the <strong>12th century<\/strong>, the <strong>Roman church<\/strong> was built.<\/p>\n<p><strong>INSIGHTS AND VISITS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Located in the hamlet of Montorfano (via Montorfano, Mergozzo- VB;
