They concern the sectors of the Valle delle Meraviglie (which owes its name to their presence), Fontanalba, Valuaretta, Valmasca, Colle del Sabbione and Vej del Bouc (lake in the Entracque area). These engravings have been grouped according to some typologies: among the most ancient we find rings and geometric figures, while at the Copper Age (3000-2200 B.C.) and Bronze Age (2200-1600) they are characterized by the presence of weapons (daggers, halberds), tools such as the plough, <strong>anthropomorphic images<\/strong> and <strong>corniform<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<p>The latter testify the existence of a &#8220;cult of the bull&#8221;, with numerous images of heads of this bovid engraved.<\/p>\n<p>Together with those of Valcamonica, in Lombardy, the rock engravings of Mount Bego constitute the <strong>pole of Alpine rock art<\/strong>, as well as being one of the most important sites for the protohistoric phase in Europe.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19478\" style=\"width: 208px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19478\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-19478\" src=\"http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-4-198x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-4-198x300.jpg 198w, http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-4-681x1030.jpg 681w, http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-4-768x1161.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-4-466x705.jpg 466w, http:\/\/ambientecultura.it\/files\/2020\/12\/2-4.jpg 859w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 198px) 100vw, 198px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-19478\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The man with zig-zag arms<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>INSIGHTS AND VISITS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As this is a high altitude site, the rock engravings of Mount Bego (coordinates Lat. 44\u00b0 4&#8217;20.32 &#8220;N, Long. 7\u00b027&#8217;1.96 &#8220;E) are visible only in the summer season, following the mountain guides on the hiking trails.
