The archaeological map of the territory
The Albese territory has yielded several archaeological finds dated back to the I and II century AC.
In the zone closed to the Tanaro Valley, the excavations have put in light large rural settlements
remains, roads surfaces and necropolis. Some rustic buildings are known in Verduno, Roddi, Gallo
d’Alba, in the suburb of Grinzane Cavour, where also two cremation tombs in bricks have been
discovered: one of them is exposed in the museum.
Two funerary monuments and sporadic ceramics come from the central hills. They constitute some
evidences of the ancient occupation of this area with small settlements, based on sufficiency
economy.
