P36c The rosette

The rosette had been found re-used in the frontal wall of Marro palace and it was related to the
Roman temple which the remains have been unearthed under this medieval building and in the
adjacent Pertinace plaza.
It probably constituted a part of the horizontal architrave of the temple. The petals double-crown of
was the decorative motif of the rosette and it belonged to the models of the Hellenistic architectural
sculpture, later adopted in the Augustan Age.
